A New Year and its back to work, back to school and each activity is using the precious time you have available. So, the last thing on your mind is probably your wardrobe. The daily decision of what to wear? Well, with a little bit of organisation you can save yourself a lot of time and frustration.
Here are some basic wardrobe tips:
- Start with understanding which colours best suit your skin tone. Hair, makeup and clothing colours are equally important and wearing the right colours makes a visible difference to how you feel and your confidence for the day.
- The dress code you will need to suit your lifestyle. Understanding dress codes assists in ensuring your wardrobe items are spot on for each occasion and what suits your body.
- Use the 3 X principle to achieve versatility i.e. every item in your wardrobe or that you purchase needs to match with at least three other items.
- Start with the basic colours for jackets, pants or skirts and then mix and match tops to make totally different outfits.
- Less is more principle in these tougher economic times e.g. don’t duplicate – one pair of black pants or jeans is sufficient. Rather invest in different basic colours in pants, skirts or dresses as this will give you greater versatility and ease of mix and matching.
- Invest in more tops and fewer bottoms in a selection of plains and prints.
- When hanging clothes in your wardrobe separate pants, skirts, shirts, dresses and tops. This allows you to see what you have in your wardrobe plus it will be easier to mix and match items especially when you don’t have much time to get ready.
